"I'd promised to portect [Lissa] my whole life, but then Dimitri-tall, gorgeous, fierce Dimitri-had changed it all. I'd been faced with with that horrible choice: continue to protect Lissa or free Dimitri's soul."
Summary (From Front Flap):
Bound by love,
but sworn to kill...
The world thought Dimitri was dead.
And to certain extent, he was.
But I hadn't been able to forget a
conversation he and I once had.
We'd both agreed that we'd rather be dead-
truly dead-than walk the world as Strigoi.
It's time to honor our words.
GAURDIAN ROSE HATHAWAY'S LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME.
The recent attacks on St. Vladimir's Academy devestated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few vicitms carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck; a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count.
But only one victim matters...Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa-her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess-or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?
Now, with everything at stake-and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend-can Rose find the strengt to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrafice herself for a chance at eternal love?
Wdebo's Review: After reading Shadow Kiss, I was angered by that giant cliffhanger, so I defidently could not wait to begin Blood Promise. So, when I saw it at my library, I was pretty over the top excited. I was so happy to begin it, and I was glad it did not disappoint. (But it did a little).
The writing was very good, it is one of my favorite books of the series. Though the beginning two hundred pages were not that bad, it just seemed kinda bland, like nothing really happened. It felt like a walking in a park in a beautiful day, there would randomly be a tree or a playstructure that came up, but other then that it would all just be grass. There were some excitment in that part, but the rest it was filled was "grass" just filler details.
However, after those two hundred pages, the real excitment began. That was the part where I just could not put the book down until I finished every last letter of the whole story until the ending, which totally surprised me.
I liked all of the characters, except Avery, I didn't like her since the very beginning of the book. Even as a Strigoi, Dimitri is still awesomeness, and I now have a soft spot for Adrian. In the first few books I didn't like him at all, but now, he is really growing on me.
Quotes from the book: "He was the man I loved, the man with whom I'd been so perfectly in sync that it was hard to know where I ended and he began. My heart refused to let him go-even if he was technically a monster, he was still out there somewhere." (Page 12)
"We'd both agreed that we'd rather be dead-truly dead-than walk the world as Strigoi" (Page 12)
"It's a good thing I work well under pressure." (Page 503)
Cafe Cover Chat: I like the cover, this one looks cool, except the giant head thing seems pretty overdone, but it looks better then the other Vampire Academy covers. (B)
All in all, a good continuation of the Vampire Diaries series, fans of the book will not be disappointed and should go out now and get it and read it and breatlessly wait for the fifth one!!
Grade: B+
