"As the shutter snapped, I knew it was likely I'd never see this picture. But even if I did, it wouldn't come close to capturing everything I was feeling right then. If I ever did get a copy, I already had the perfect place for it: a blue frame, a few words etched beneath. The best of times."

Summary: As the daughter of two professors, Auden, has missed out on so much of her childhood. Like food fights, hanging out with friends, and riding a bike, prefering, instead, to study like a crazy person to try to get her parent's love and approval, who keep starting back at her brother, Hollis, who is a crazy out-going guy.

After/during her parent's divorce, Auden had become a hardcore insomnic, needing to drive around until the wee hours of the morning before she could actually sorta sleep. Along For the Ride, follows Auden as she goes to the tiny beach town, Colby, to visit her father, step-mother, Heidi, and newborn half-sister, Thisbe. There she meets Eli, fellow insomnic, and they bond with her loss of a childhood and his loss of a friend. He creates a quest for her to gain back her childhood, and act like a child just more one time before she goes off to college.

In Colby, she makes friends makes enemies and finds out just how important a childhood can mean to you.

Wdebo's Review: Another brilliant classic from Sarah Dessen. This was just such a great book!! It was cliche and sweet, like most of her books, and everything comes just to a screeching, happy ending.

All the characters have points that make them loveable, and then there are points not so. Like take Auden for example, she was a strong character and a great heronie, except she is so small and childish, tho she is mature, she acts weak and always needing to be saved, but after a while, when she starts to actually mature, she gets to be a lot nicer to read about.

I really love Eli, he was sweet and just such an amazing guy!

The writing was good, the story flowed well, and hit all the points very good, except I still don't understand, in the story they use chicken salad for weird, did they explain that in the story? I didn't see it, or maybe I just skimmed over that part.

The cover is adorably sweet!! I love the little mist of an ocean behind them. Except, I don't understand why Auden is wearing that dress, I mean it is super cute and all, but Auden never struck me as the type to wear a dress like that. She's so schooly and feminist [Like her mom!] that I thought she was condemn dresses as a way to put women on display or something like that. Maybe that is after her transformation. (A)

All in all, this is just such a cute, amazing book for all Sarah Dessen lovers to enjoy!! And all other readers who love romance.

  4. I love Sarah Dessen too. :) I didn't understand the chicken salad reference either- I think it's an expression of some sort that SD figures you know? I've never heard the expression before though.
