FACE AIDS

Hello y'all!

I know I have been very bad at blogging for the LGBT Pride Month posts but finals have been horrible and I'm so stressed out now *Pulls hair out and crys*

Anywho, I wanna direct your attention to this awesome project one of my friends, Nina, is a part of. The project is called Ride Against AIDS and is for an organization called FACE AIDS. This summer, Nina and a group of students will be biking across the country to raise awareness. Please feel free to check out the site HERE and donate if you have the means!

P.S. In three days time I shall be DONE with my freshman year of college so I will be able to read and blog to my heart's desire. So I shall see you all then!

LGBT Pride Month (2) Music-Magnet

Hi!!

So, in the first week, I have failed to post one item a week. Eek. This week and next week will be very difficult for me to continue blogging just because it's finals week but afterwards expect a post a day :)

Anywho, I have decided to post a song on Fridays and Saturdays just because there are so many awesome ones that talk about LGBT characters.

So, today I want to spotlight Magnet. A series of songs found throughout Nico Nico and Vocaloids. Here are just a few of my favorite versions of Magnet.

The first version is the original version of Magnet sung by the two vocaloids, Miku and Luka. If you don't know what Vocaloids are click HERE to read my post on it ^^

Other versions I like are are the Clear and Dasoku version which is the first version of Magnet I heard. I still love it and I am crazily in love with Clear's voice. Haha.

And the comedy version of Magnet by Neru and Gero. (I lerve Gero).

The entire theme of Magnet is bound to the idea of  "forbidden love," therefore most of the song pairings are usually between two people of the same sex. However, there are a few songs about heterosexual couples (Usually about incest or giant age gaps).

What do you think about the portrayal of relationships between homosexual couples as constantly being tied in with "forbidden love"? Do you think it emphasizes an idea about our society being heteronormative and that anything that deviates from that is "different" or "forbidden"? Do you think that the constant representation of homosexuality in entertainment mediums like these assists or hinders the gay rights movement?

Tell me your thoughts on the above questions, on these songs, on Vocaloids, etc in the comments below ^^

LGBT Pride Month (1)-The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal

Helllloooooo World!

Because I have been totally MIA lately and haven't been reading at all (Unless you guys want to hear my thoughts on Crime and Punishment and Anna Karenina AND the ten page research paper I am doing on Russian literature) I have decided that since I am a bibliophile and since June is LGBT Pride month, I will (try to-key words there) post a book/graphic novel/other literary medium with admirable LGBT protagonists every day for the rest of this month.

Even though I do not identify as lesbian/bisexual/transgender, I feel that it is wrong to discriminate against people because of their sexual orientation just like how I feel it is wrong to discriminate against gender or race, etc. If someone treated me unequally because I am an Asian female, I would totally be all like "Bitch, please..." and yeah, but we can save that discussion for a different time.

Anyways, the first book for my LGBT Pride Month posts will be The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal By: EK Weaver (Who I REALLY want to meet but will probably never *Cries*)

It is a WIP that can currently be found online HERE. The first volume of the graphic novel is also out for sell now!

Less Than Epic is a wonderful graphic novel about two guys who meet by chance and go on a road trip together filled with sketchy motels, weed, music and gradual love. The artwork is wonderful especially the few nature shots that are absolutely stunning.

Unlike most m/m webcomics it does not focus exclusively on the sexual relationship between the protagonists instead it focuses on the gradual development of romance between the two. (There are sexual relations shown between TJ and Amal but it is definitely not as out there as say..Teahouse or Starfighter) The chemistry is gentle and so sweet. I cannot wait to see how the story continues to develop!

Wdebo :)

P.S. Do you have a book/comic/graphic novel to add to a future post for this series? Comment below and I will check it out!
